What I Leave Behind I Bring With Me
A collection of binaurally recorded daily encounters with our sonic landscape, an exploration of how we listen, combining field recordings, voice, chance encounters, sometimes woven into compositions, sometimes generating new meanings, sometimes asking questions. Through this performative and exploratory process, I am interested in what sound can reveal, from nature, our imprint, our place within it. Use headphones in a quiet space for the best listening experience. Recorded and produced by Laura Campbell with production support and artwork by Adam Sloan. Developed with the help of a Metal Residency. www.metalculture.com/ www.friend-or-foe.info/laura-gallery

Using binaural field recordings, this piece draws out tones, improvised vocalisations, rhythms, unconscious actions, captured while walking in a familiar place. The repetitiveness of daily routine, the slowing down and examination of life in detail, stretched out in dreamlike moments in time. Through the manipulation of sounds recorded, the journey is reimagined to convey emotions I felt on certain days - anxious, uncertain, introspective, meditative.
